"Goddamn Bambi killers!"

Dec 15, 2009 12:49

I woke up yesterday at 7:50 AM. Why, you may ask? Mom called to let me know that a deer jumped onto her car while she was driving to work. She's okay, and other than the windshield, her car is fine. However, the entire windshield has to be replaced, so we're temporarily back down to one car.

See, this wouldn't be such a big deal if a) Mom didn't work Monday through Friday, b) I didn't work, and c) I wasn't in the middle of EXAM WEEK.

So, Mom took my car today without even bothering to ask how I was getting to my exam today. She just said she'd be home in time for me to get to work.

Thankfully, Alex's family currently has an extra car sitting at their house. It was his grandfather's car, but now that he has passed on, his grandmother has asked her son (Alex's dad) to sell it for her. So, his dad is driving that car today, and they are lending me their Toyota Camry for today. (And maybe tomorrow. I'm still fuzzy on how I'm supposed to get the car back to them.)

So, I can go to my exam at 2:20, go to work at 5, and come home tonight when I get out at 11 without having to call for rides. Alex was originally going to chauffer me around and I felt really bad about that, but he has a lot of stuff to do today and our schedules would have clashed.

The good thing is that tomorrow, I am free from work and school, and even though I work at 6 on Thursday, that will give Mom plenty of time to get home if she still doesn't have her car back. Then, I leave on Friday for Maryland with Dad, Anne, and Sherry, and even then if the car still isn't back, Mom will be on winter break so I can take my own car to work on Monday morning.

Anyway, that leads me to my next point. Yes, I got off of work for the weekend to go to Maryland! YAY!!! Surprisingly, I haven't been called or texted by my coworkers who are stuck working Friday, Saturday, and Sunday like I've been doing for months. Suckers! I let Beth know that I'm going to be on the month-long holiday break, so I'm guessing my set schedule for work is going to change. As long as I'm still getting paid, I don't think I'll mind too much.

On the sad side of things, Mom says she's probably taking Hatton to the vet on Saturday. Yeah, when Anne and I are out of town. He doesn't have much longer anyway, but it still irritates me that I won't be here when he goes. It's going to be hard to leave him on Friday. :(

What an interesting week it's going to be...

car, death, dad, hatton, exams, work, mom
