• We took the cat to the vet for a check up after her adventure and talked through some of the behavioural issues, supposedly we're doing most of the right things and were told (too late!) that most tortoiseshells have this temperament. A very disoriented and overall scared looking cat showed up last night.

To be honest I'm hoping that wherever she went it was unpleasant enough to realise that maybe I'm not so bad after all. Today certainly she looks quiet and is letting me pat her with no complaints.

Sometime between 3am and this morning the cat appears to have run away.

The cat is usually an indoors cat and hasn't to my knowledge ever been out on the streets.

• New job involves primarily web based systems. I keep having to reread sentences as my brain inserts decimals into whole second timeframes. No other news to report yet as I'm still learning the ropes and meeting the team.

• Owing to me being ill for much of the early part of the week my life has been fairly unexciting. Weekend mostly involved cider and computer games, a trip to Glebe Street fair and a fiasco with the locksmiths. Not that exciting but there are worse ways to spend life.
