The Harbour...Chapter 52: The Question
“What?!” Carolyn shook her head. She wasn’t even sure if she’d heard what he’d said.
“Why did I what?”
Elisabeth moved to stand with Carolyn and Cassie near the TV.
“Okay. Alright. Calm down Kyle,” Ophelia said, raising her hands and stepping forward.
She and Kyle had been friends for 25 years and Carolyn was sure that their paths had crossed romantically while they were in college.
Kyle turned his head slightly toward Ophelia. His eyes focussed briefly on his friend, but they were still flashing in anger. He turned to look at Carolyn again.
“I need a minute with my wif...with Carolyn,” he snarled.
“What do you want?” Carolyn spat, finally collecting herself.
“Why did you agree to marry me?!”
“That was years ago! Are we really going to have this conversation?” She asked, her eyes dark and her cheeks flushed.
“Seriously guys!” Ophelia interrupted.
“No. No, you are not going to have this conversation!” Cassie snapped, stepping in front of Carolyn.
“Is this really the right time, the right place, S*&% man, is this even the right f%^*ing decade?! Are you out of your mind Kyle?!”
“Cas! Cas!” Elisabeth reaching to put her hand on her friend’s back. “This is not helping.”
“Carolyn!” Kyle barked, trying to get his ex-wife’s attention.
“Marco said I needed to ask you why you agreed to marry me!”
