It's a book!

I know now why The Twelve Kingdoms aka Juuni Kokki is so awesome. It's based on a novel series by Fuyumi Ono. All of the sudden it all makes sense. The richness and well thought out world, the strange terms, that air of awesomeness.

It seems that the boxset I have spans over more than one novel. I hope it covers the entire arc, to be honest. The first novel was covered in the first three DVD's and there's another arc in the next two DVD's and it all interacts and all the characters cross over. Least that's what I'm guessing because Youko is on the final DVD covers.

Anyway, this show is made of awesome. The end of the first story was a bit rushed but knowing it's based on a novel... it makes sense that they did a cut like that.

So far I'm going through one DVD volume per day. Seven more days to go. Man, I'll be feeling sad and empty when it's over. But until then, much awesomeness!!!

OMG!!!!! I just discovered something. This anime is even more awesome now! There is a character, named Rakushun, he's a rat. I love, love, love him! He is so .... well awesome. I liked him as soon as he opened his mouth to speak. And that could be because I subconsciously recognised his voice. His Jap voice actor is the same one that does my beloved Zack from FFVII. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

*coughs* So, where was I? Oh yes, the novel. TokyoPop has released the first volume... somewhere, so I might even be able to read the story, which will probably be infinitely better than the anime, because books rule when compared to their adaption counterparts.

And now, sad news. The anime was supposed to run for 68 episodes but got cut off at 45 because the studio thought it best to wait for more novels to be released before continuing. This at least will prepare me for the inevitable 'crap ending'. Poo!

Anyway, I'm happy, and this anime rocks my socks.

I'm also about to watch the last episode of Attention Please, which is a Japanese TV show about Misaki Yoko, a very energetic, tom boy-ish girl who used to be in a rock band. She decides to try and become a cabin attendant on an airline because a guy she liked said he'd like to see her in a uniform one day. Misaki learns a lot of things and eventually wants to become a cabin attendant for herself. So, you can get the idea. It's a feel good girly drama show which makes me giggly on the inside. Yoko is so adorable and... genki is the only word I can think of. And as usual, when actually watching a Japanese TV show it seriously makes me question if the Japanese really are like that. Watching Yoko I can't help but remember those outrageously expressive ways anime characters behave. Surely Japan is too conservative for such behaviour to be acceptable. And yet these characters have such expressive vocals and behaviours. It's like they overemphasise everything. I guess I have to go over there and see for myself. But I'm guessing it's probably just in TV shows that it happens. Lets face it, Japan is not really in touch with reality so to see reality portrayed in the acting is probably something we wouldn't see.

Anyway.... Rakushun... Zack... eeiiiiiii!!!! *giggles*

Ja Ne and merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
