i like LJ because it gives me a chance to write about things that might offend people on myspace.

you know those friends you have that only post when they fill out a survey? and they do a survey EVERY DAY? i'm about to de-friend some bitches.

today i decided to get some hot chocolate for the girl i work with, as well as some caffeine for myself. so i went to starbucks (yes, i know, the corporate enemy) and got in the drive-thrue line. this is hard to explain without drawing a picture, but the line was long and curved around to a couple driving lanes in the parking lot. so i, naturally, pulled up on the right side of the lane, where you would normally drive. but this lady next to me had pulled over in to the left side of the lane. i was confused, but i thought maybe she was just stopped for a minute, since she was obviously blocking any traffic that would need to come through there.

so she honks at me and has me roll down my window, and then proceeds to tell me i'm lined up on the wrong side. "but you're blocking traffic", i said very politely. "no, YOU are. we ALWAYS line up on this side, i come here every day."

"sorry, i'm not a 'REGULAR' (i used air quotes there), i didn't know that," i said. and i told her to go ahead of me. "well, i'm just afraid you'll still be blocking people behind you," as she drove up. fortunately i was in a good state of mind and just blew it off, b/c there were about 4 cars behind me in line at this point as well. i mostly just felt bad for her, being obviously in a more stressful state of mind. i mean, who even cares about that stuff?

anyways. so i order and get up to the window and i ask the guy how much. he tells me, "it's free, actually. the lady ahead of you paid for your order." WHAT? i am so confused. i don't know whether to be pissed off b/c she got the upper hand, or happy that she realized she was being a crazy bitch and decided to pay me back. either way, i got free drinks! of course the starbucks dude tried to guilt me into continuing the chain of good-will, but i laughed in his stupid face.

moral of the story: piss people off more. they will buy you things.
