This and that
Semi-automatic Livejournal Updater. I found this just now as I was searching for something I could put on my mac to remind me of people's birthdays, just like Semagic is s'posed to... The b-day wishes made me feel so good, so I want to do Better. Since I regularly miss almost everyone's.

I was thinking I didn't want to go to Lumos-- too much money etc. But I keep seeing people's pictures of TWH, and remembering what a deeply terrific time I had. And I loved Nimbus, too, even though back then I didn't know anyone or get invited to any parties, so I was FORCED to attend panel after talk after panel- I even watched the movies, can you believe it?

Speaking of Nimbus... stop me if you've heard this one. Well, no, don't stop me, just skip to the next item. Like I said, I didn't know anyone when I went to Nimbus, so I found a room to share on a general bulletin board. One of my roommates was nice, one was blah, but the third was the self-appointed anti-slash crusader of the con. She was quite young and attractive, and a very committed HP fan. She had designed the program cover (won a contest), *always* wore her Hogwarts uniform and generally her Harry glasses, and had a huge collection of swag for the auction/contest whatever. But she also tried to start a petition to save HP from moral degenerates; she knew I was a slash fan, but she would still show me things like the Armchair Slash ad on the inside of HER COVER (H/D kiss) and say, "isn't it just *awful*??" She also had a bizarre habit of attending slash and slash-friendly programming, then raising her hand with a question and saying, "But wouldn't you agree that this is a hideous perversion of a delightful children's series?"
Anyway, (point) she was at TWH. Oh, it gets better- she wore a disguise! I'm so not kidding. I saw her at an "is Snape guilty" discussion, and she was wearing a big beret and super-reflective yellow sunglasses. But it was totally her!

Um, not quite as sharp as I was with PoA- what is the superfantastic NYC GoF plan? Not the "harass the actors" one, cuz that's not really my bag (though I could be persuaded, maybe), but the first big viewing?

Finally, y'all have noticed that the fabulous brevisse is doing SGA cartoons now, right? She is one of my fan art heroes- she gets so much humor and expressiveness into her figures, so much narrative into their faces and postures, while maintaining a light, simple, unsentimental touch. Her little SGA people are very detailed and precise compendia of their Attributes (check out Rodney's arms! John's nose! Radek's everything!) acting out these frankly silly narratives that delight me. Love, love, love. Just go on over to her LJ- like 3 of the last 6 posts are SGA comics. One's an HP crossover!
Plus, she is so modest it will break your heart.

I was supposed to get together with Mulberry Fields again tonight, but Circumstances were a pig. :(((( So I will watch VM and hook up the wireless router I got for my b-day.
