A/N: Because I am always in the mood to write random JongKey fluff, I decided to start a drabble series about Jongkey's life together. With their adopted child(ren). 0_o

The moonlight shone through the window, giving every object in the room a weird shadow. The trees outside swung along with the harshly blowing wind, and the cold February night had a twelve year old Jonghyun wishing that he was in his own bed.

“Stupid dormitory,” he mumbled to himself, clutching his blankets, hearing a fierce wind blow. He completely regretted begging his parents to let him attend the ‘coolest boarding school ever.’ Okay, maybe his house was only about three blocks away from the school building, but he still thought that it was a good opportunity to be independent. Yes, an independent twelve year old, that’s what he was. He used to share the dorm room with a nice guy named Minho, but then Minho decided that he didn’t like the school and its lack of athletic programs so he moved out during Winter break.

Another strong wind passed and Jonghyun swore that he heard weird noises. He shivered and let a less-than-manly squeak escape his lips. He decided that enough was enough, and so he got up, and marched (ran) out of his dorm, only to knock at the door right across of his. He tried his best to knock loud enough to wake up the room’s occupant, while being quiet enough not to wake anyone else up. Six(x34) knocks later, the door opened a small crack. When the boy in the room realized who was knocking, his eyes rolled tiredly. The boy opened up the door wider and fully faced the terrified Jonghyun.

“Yes, Jonghyun? Goodness, if you wake up Taemin I will tell on you!” the boy whispered loudly.

“Key-ssi…” Jonghyun said quietly. ‘Key’ was a nickname that Jonghyun often called the boy, no matter how much the boy told him to stop. The boy, whose actual name was Kibum, finally gave up when he realized that Jonghyun would never stop, “Monsters. There’s monsters in my room,” Jonghyun said this so quietly, Key had to think for a minute before summing up what Jonghyun was saying.

“Monsters? What do you mean?” Key asked skeptically.

“Monsters!” Jonghyun exclaimed, clasping his own mouth after words, “There’s scary, scary …things! Inside my room. I’m so scared. I think…I think they want to eat me, Kibummie!,” Jonghyun shivered. Key squinted one eye in doubt.

“Jonghyun. There’s no monsters in your room. There’s no monsters at all! They’re not real!”

“YESSSS. Yes, they are real! Please Kibummie,” Jonghyun cried, tears slowly spilling from his eyes. Jonghyun held on to the collars of his t-shirt and covered half of his face. His crying got more and more intense as seconds passed. They somehow turned from small sniffles to loud hiccups.

“WAIT! Don’t cry, Jonghyunnie! What do you want to do? Do you want to sleep here?”

“No,” Jonghyun wiped his face, “I want them to go away. Kibummie, you can make them go away, right?”

“Uhh…” Key’s eyes widened. He visualized his own frail, twelve-year-old water skier body in his mind and wondered if he heard Jonghyun right, “You want me to…make them go away?”

“Yes. Please? I always see you yelling at the teachers and bad kids and you always scare them and tell them what to do. You can do that with the monsters too! Let’s go!” Jonghyun grabbed Key’s hand before he could protest, and dragged the sleepy boy into his room.

“O…okay. So… um…Monsters? Monsters, are you here?” Key called out right when he entered Jonghyun’s dorm. Without receiving a response, Key turned to face Jonghyun, “I don’t think they’re here?” Key was actually terrified that something would pop out.

“Under my bed…it’s under my bed,” Jonghyun explained.

“Oh. Okay,” Key gulped and kneeled next to Jonghyun’s bed. He breathed in, thinking that he might as well get over it. What was a stupid ghost going to do anyways? They can’t even hold things, “Okay, listen here Mr. or Mrs. Ghost, or whatever,” Key started in a stern voice, “Stop being a bully! Stop scaring my friend! That’s mean, and that’s bad! I want you to get out right NOW! And please don’t come back because you’re a meanie. If you want, you can say sorry and stop scaring Jonghyun and then we can be friends. But if you don’t want to stop, I want you to leave!” Key said with a passion. Besides, he didn’t want Jonghyun to come crying to him again. There was silence.

“I hear nothing,” Jonghyun whispered. Key became troubled. His eyebrows curved apologetically.

“He’s still here?” Key asked, “I guess ghosts aren’t that scared of me. I’m sorry-”

“No! Key! It’s really quiet. Don’t you know? That means he left!” Jonghyun laughed joyfully. In reality, the noises just stopped because the wind had just stopped blowing. Jonghyun hopped on to his bed and hugged Key as the younger got up from the floor, “Thank you, Key! Thank you!”

“No problem,” Key said in a slightly smug voice, “Okay, I’ll just go now,”

“NO! What if they came back? Please stay here!” Jonghyun said, hugging Key tighter.

“What about Taemin?”

“It’s okay! There’s no monsters there right?”

“No?”

“See!”

“But I didn’t even close the door!”

That’s how Key became Jonghyun’s personal ghost buster. Sadly, just six weeks later, Key moved out saying something about the ugly uniforms. Since then, Jonghyun had to learn to fight his own battles. Once that school year was over, he decided never to go to boarding school ever again. Who knew that thesetwo kids would meet again five years later, and would end up being totally and completely gay for eachother?

“Oh my god, Jonghyun, I can’t believe that you would call that a bedtime story,” Key sighed disappointedly, shaking his head as he watched his husband-figure tucking ‘their daughter’ in. Jonghyun smirked.

“What? It’s a real life story! Better than those unrealistic fairytales about stupid girls and douche bag guys,”

“HEY. You better not be bagging on Rapunzel, I swear,” Key threatened. He walked forward and kissed their adopted daughter, Taeyeon, on the forehead. When he got up, he found Jonghyun’s arms around his waist and they walked out of the little girls’ room together. They were now a mid-twenties live-in couple, (since homosexuality was still strange in Korea, and same-sex marriage was definitely not legal yet) with a cute adopted three year-old. They adopted her right when she was born.

As Key and Jonghyun were walking to the kitchen to have their evening tea, Key spoke up.

“I remember that though. You were so annoying,” Key laughed, “Geez,  I bet I was chasing ghosts out of your room every night until I couldn’t take the uniforms anymore,”

“Maybe, I just wanted to sleep in your arms!”

“Or maybe you were just abnormally scared of the dark,”

“That’s cold,” Jonghyun said, offended. Key was boiling a pot of water while Jonghyun leaned on the counter beside him. Key smiled and diverted his attention from the pot of water, to his shorter, masculine-looking-but-he-really-isn’t husband.

“I know. But don’t worry, now I’ll be here every single night whenever you need me to chase those mean ghosts away,” Key teased, hugging Jonghyun, looking down to meet his eyes. Jonghyun’s pout wavered, but he worked hard to keep it there, though he did end up hugging the taller man back.

“I really made a good choice asking you to scare the ghosts away. You’re meaner than them,” Jonghyun complained. Key started laughing freely, and then the teapot whistled, “You know, I heard the school closed down because of mysterious things,” Jonghyun claimed with big eyes. Key removed the pot from the stove and laughed again.

“Oh, Jonghyun. I love you,"

And they lived happily ever after.
