I came home to a box of baby blue faux fur the other night, so I decided it was time to crank out a Manticore to see how it looked. ...which also meant staying up late sewing again. But, I didn't make myself finish, so I got plenty of sleep last night, without losing my day before work. And, since I've been cruel lately and haven't put anything behind a cut, here's a cut:
Overall, I think he's really cute! If it were for me, I would probably still want to make the wings and tail match the color of the mane, but that's just me. I also think it's time to get serious about fixing some of my older patterns (like this one) so I don't have to always eyeball needed allowances. In other words, the pattern pieces for the tail need to be tweaked, and I need to get serious about doing that.
Maybe one of these days I'll even pull out that piece of plastic I bought forever ago for making plastic pattern pieces (back in ye olde days of making little Slayers dolls) and convert some of these guys to the plastic. Then I won't have to fear about the paper patterns becoming so "holy." ;)
