After weeks of nothing interesting going on, I have something interesting to say.

I started C school on Monday. They started by giving us a stack of 9 technical publications (one was basically 2 books side by side attached together that should really count as 2 pubs) that are all really thick. It's really not so bad, we're learning where to find things in the pubs and we don't use most of the pubs regularily. My first test is Tuesday.

Physical therapy has been helping my foot get better. I don't remember if I mentioned it, but I have muscle autrophy so I have to build the muscle back up and it takes time. Yesterday I got worse. A lot worse. I was walking into the barracks and some female (who wears too much make-up) was in some huge rush to get out of the barracks swung the fairly heavy door really hard just as I was reaching for the door with the handle. The door smashed into my foot, which went inwards (swat at a fly with your hand and that's what my foot did). It really hurt. A lot. I called medical and got an apointment the same afternoon. The doctor gave me the naproxen stuff that's better than ibuprofen and said I needed to get new x-rays. I got the x-rays after that and my follow up is on Monday. He doesn't think anything is broken or fractured, but he wants to be sure. When I go back, I'm going to ask if I should get a new MRI. So once again, I can barely walk.

However, in happy news, Eric and I have a house! Last week I signed the lease for a 2 bed-room townhouse with a 2 car garage. It's in a really nice neighborhood in base housing. I'll be about 15-20 minutes from base and 10 minutes from the Mexico border. The cool thing about base housing is that the only utility bill we have to pay is cable and internet. My BAH (basic allowance for housing) all goes to housing and cover everything else, even this fancy security system and garbage collection. And the Navy's giving my money to move our stuff out here. The car's a bit tricky. They only give you money for cars if you're driving it over or if you have something from medical stating you can't drive a car - I might get the last one, but it depends on how things with my foot go.
