I finished my last school on Friday top of my class. I'm on leave until the 21st when I report to the base. Once I check in, I'll find out when I'm flying out to Bahrain to meet my ship. There's a giant Black Widow Spider living on my porch right next to the sliding door. It's huge. I guess it's fairly passive and most likely won't bite my cats when they go out on the porch, but it still creeps me out ( Read more... )

Hard copy orders are posted! I start my ops class next Monday. August 24th I'll report...somewhere. My ship left on deployment in May and Oldham (he's going to the same ship) and I aren't sure if they'll fly us out to meet the ship or if we'll go on hold at 32nd St (the base we'll be stationed at) until the ship is back. I got orders today! I'm going to the Decauter which is in San Diego. I don't have to move so I'm excited. I still don't know when I'll leave this base, but at least I have a destination.

Someone who came to my base last week is now diagnosed with swine flu. we were told to go to medical the second we feel like shit. I still see no reason to worry about swine flu. It came through during the 70s and more people died from the vaccine than the actual strain. Then again, maybe it's something else for people to freak out about besides ( Read more... )

That's right, Eric and I went to Disneyland. MWR, the organized fun, has this deal going on where active duty get in for free and up to 5 people for $93 each for a 3-day hopper. So we decided to go for a sorta honeymoon. I found a hotel across the street from the park, less than 10 minutes walking distance, for super cheap too - $75 a night. We ( Read more... )
