I'll be voting Yes to AV in the referendum (I use AV in all the union elections I've ever taken part in - it is not difficult for us plebs to understand whatever Cameron thinks).

Falling asleep so going to bed. Romsey & N. Southampton has gone Tory with a maj. of 4,156.

ETA: Still not in bed. Interesting result in Norwich South: Lib Dem win with almost three way split between the big three (les than a 1000 votes separating them) but the Greens really gained with an 8% increase in their share.

So glad that the Lib Dems held Eastleigh and increased the majority from 500 to over 3000.

Eastleigh is 1/4 mile up the road from us and was also a Tory target seat (although not as far up their list as we are) and I hope the result bodes well for our new constuency of Romsey and North Southampton.

Need more tea.

I am so bloody pleased. The Alliance have an MP. A real Westminster MP. And I'm not dead!

The Alliance have beaten Peter Robinson (who will of course remain First Minister in the NI Assembly).

I've been disenfranchised before. In fact in the last General Election the University and Returning Officer saw fit to remove me from the electoral roll less than a month after I had registered in person at the Guildhall. I was furious.

Not beaten their record because more people turned out to vote than they expected.

Turn out looks to be high in many places with people being tuned away in Withington (Manchester) among other places.

Labour win, young MP, only 26, Oxfrd grad and manager of a woman's refuge. From first look, she seems to be a decent sort.

First reports of people being turning away from polling stations in Sheffield as officials couldn't deal with the volumes.

I've never understood why they, election officials, couldn't, as standard, have Police to help organise queuses close to the closing of polls, so that the queue was stopped at 10pm and no one else could join but everyone in ( Read more... )

Have wine, have cheese, have Sunderland starting their count [1], have computer graphics on the telly. What more could a girl want?

Voted this evening after doing an early morning leafteling for the Lib Dems. Have had two Lib Dems canvassers around this evening to see if we'd voted, Tories just had a teller at the Polling ( Read more... )
