The evaporative cooler my uncle salvaged and repaired for us. After about a month of it taking up floorspace, we managed to get the fireplace cleaned out and the cast iron grate shifted, so it's fit in there for now. Of curse, come Autumn, I'll have to get it out again so that we can light the fire.
Typical computer desk clutter. Two teacups, one coffee cup, a jar of boiled sweets, knitting, landline telephone, friends page on one screen, pattern on the other.
Our sad Japanese Maple. The outer leaves are still green, but all the inner ones died in the heatwave. I'm hoping now that it's rained it'll be okay.
After my silverbeet went to seed and dried up, I was pretty sure it was dead. Not so! The recent rain happened, and there's new growth.
We're poultry minding again, just for a few days this time. These three young ladies are the newcomers in our neighbour's chook enclosure. Don't know what variety they are, but I think they're only fairly recently hatched; they don't look old.
Rainbow vest, more or less complete. The denim blue DC border is done there, and Emma finished weaving in the ends for me this evening. Just needs buttons!
The Other Country and When Horse Became Saw, both found for bargain prices. I read The Other Country sitting in a Borders a few years ago, and I was first on the list at my library to read When Horse Became Saw when it was released. Both are Australian books, written by fathers of autistic sons. When Horse Became Saw in particular is very good.
