Am home, am mostly unpacked, am very relieved that I'll be sleeping in my own bed tonight.
Thanks to those who read/commented/kudosed my story, I've really enjoyed seeing the notifications in my inbox.
Tomorrow, maybe some pictures of my completed Carousel socks, maybe some of things that might have arrived in the mail by now. I should update my recs lists a little, and maybe do a rec-of-the-week or something, if my brain is back online by then.
Maybe garden pics; my stepfather gave me rhubarb to plant out, and it won't last if I don't do it soon.
I bought more Moda Vera Noir, in Aqua Mix and Pink Mix, because Spotlight was selling it off for $5 a ball again. Am looking for patterns that will work with their crazy verigation. I'm eyeing off
Longitudinal,
Achilles HeAl and
Outside In as possibilities. I've tried knitting Outside In before and found it too inflexible, but I think I was using a different yarn, and possibly, it might have been before I bought my KnitPro, which are much easier to knit socks with than my old set. It's one of the curses of being a tight knitter, that some patterns are just not workable for my gauge. As it is, I don't tend to use the recommended cast on or cast off for anything. I use the German Twisted cast on for pretty much everything (except toe-up socks) and the super stretchy cast-off for everything, with few exceptions. I often use at least one needle size higher than recommended, just to give me that extra bit of flexibility. I've tried altering the way I knit, but it's too much effort, and slows me down far too much. It's easier just to work around it, and accept that some designs aren't for me.
