Time to post the summary of the one "goal" I set for myself over the last 12 months! In both 2009 and 2010 I managed to read 24 books. The goal of the Read More Books Project was to double that number. Yesterday I attended a lovely barbecue and book swap. There ended up being lots of books to choose from, including many I'd read already (and I'm not much of a re-reader) and several that were outside my wheelhouse (pagan how-to guides) but I still came away with four large volumes to dig into eventually ( Read more... )

Back in January I set a goal for myself to read twice the books I read in 2010. That goal was 56 books. By May I'd read 5 more books than I'd read in 2010 and I'm happy to report that as of my return to Seattle from the Get Pramas the Fuck Out of Texas trip, I've met my yearly goal of 56 books. From here on out, additional books are just gravy.

 Years ago I set a generic goal for myself to "Read More Books" and though I marked that goal achieved quite a while ago, I have continued to try to improve. I did not count any books I started but abandoned (surprisingly many) in these totals, though I suppose when added together they amount to many additional pages read to no real result. My daughter is sitting in a chair in the living room READING! Kate has always struggled with reading. Try as we have, we've never been able to overcome the fact that reading for Kate is hard. I've been part of an online book club for the last couple of years. I joined purely to spur myself to read again. As a kid I was an avid reader, bringing home stacks of books from the library, reading under the covers when I should have been asleep, reading on car rides until I became carsick, reading at family gatherings to occupy myself.
