Just got back from a day at the zoo. (We were late - and lame - about getting out of the house, so earlier plans to cross the bay to Tilden were put aside.) Jake sang on the way there - "zeeeebraaaa, ellleeeephannt, lion" etc. I think we're hitting the point where we're never going to be able to get him to be quiet. All this after months of agonizing from my mother about how he'll never talk! (yeah mom, whatever!)

The zoo has a new main entrance, as well as Lemur Island, and a new cafe. I think they're working on some other new stuff, too. It looks great, and it's always a fun trip for us - Gorillas, meerkats, petting zoo, elephants, tigers, and of course, OSTRICHES! Yet another place that I enjoy going to on my own, but which, when visited with kiddos, has a multiplicity of layers of enjoyment.

Afterwards, we did some open houses, including some ridiculously large houses on the hills above our place. They're lovely, completely unaffordable (though still fairly cheap for the size), and definitely not for those with vertigo - or small kids, for that matter. $850,000. At least the high priced homes don't leave us feeling depressed - we couldn't afford these places even if we lived in cheapotown, USA.
