Santa's little helpers

Work was a little on the wacky side. My boss and I got there on time, but every single other coworker was late to some degree. Most customers were okay, but I did chew someone out for opening a sealed book without asking, rendering it unsaleable. Thank you ever so much. There was a nice surprise, at least; one of my coworkers gave everyone Christmas mugs with little treats inside--ornaments, candy, a card, a notepad. It was really cool. Someone else passed out cards last week. I feel like a lazy slob. All I've done is bring in Jolly Ranchers left over from when I was teaching, and that's only because I can't eat two pounds of Jolly Ranchers by myself.

We're back to grocery shopping on Mondays now that concert season is done. Dad did a nice deed by helping a lady get a fridge pack of soda from a high shelf. Then we went into the next aisle and my tired, politically incorrect mind got all excited because there were dwarfs in the frozen food aisle. Yes, that's right, I was excited because I saw dwarfs. This is how you can tell I'm out of it, especially considering I went to college with a dwarf and it took me like half a year to realize he wasn't just really short. Yeah. Anyway.

One of my friends came into work yesterday. He forgot I still worked there. (Everyone still thinks I'm teaching.) He's having a New Year's party...but I'm not sure I'm going, as I've already been invited to someone else's party. The friend I saw at work is from high school; the other party would be college friends. In all honesty, I think I'd rather go to the high school guy's party. I spent last New Year's with those guys and had a good time, plus this person moved and I'm curious as to what his new place is like. It's also closer to my house than his old place, or the place of the other party. I used to walk through this complex's parking lot on my way to school. And, with the other party, while it would be nice to see my friends from college, I've seen them more recently than the high school group. Plus, there's "history" with the hosts, including the millennium New Year which is weighing on my mind. Let's just say, if I could have done it over, I would have stayed home and *not* partied like it was 1999. So I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Do I go to just one? Do I make an appearance at both? Do I just stay home and hide under the covers (which is what I did in 2000 and 2001)? Anyone have any input? And I do mean besides Laura...anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
