TGIF.
Like yesterday, it was -5F when I got in the car. It warmed up to -1F by the time I got to work, though! Yay! And, yet again, there was hardly any parking. I know the two spots on the ends are half-covered in snow, but still, it shouldn't affect parking *that* badly. And people even mostly parked within the actual spaces today, too.
I had a coworker ask me for an Obsolete stamp yesterday, as apparently we are not making certain packaging anymore. Alas, I couldn't find one pre-made; I'd have to special order it. Yes, the Obsolete stamp is obsolete itself.
My coworkers decided to get Chinese today. I'm not one that participates in this sort of thing; eating out is expensive and unhealthy, plus fast food tends to make me feel ill. However, I decided not to eat at my normal time because their food would be coming around then, and they should be able to eat their food while it's still warm. Except somebody decided to order food while our picker-upper was actually there--and this was the *third* call regarding our order to boot--so the getting of the food took longer than it should have. One of the ladies, upon getting her food, insisted that I share with her. I told her I'd brought my lunch and I'd eat it later, but she said she couldn't eat everything she'd gotten. Well...okay, since you twisted my arm. She got me a little dish, a couple forks, and some napkins. Such service! And she refused any monetary compensation. The only problem? It was either Hunan or General Tso's Chicken, which is a little spicy; that I can handle. It was the little tiny pepper that did me in. I even saw it and went, hey, that looks like a little tiny pepper, but I ate it anyway in case it wasn't. It was. Cue burning of mouth and excessive drooling. Worse, I was still at my desk and the phone still rang; I'm surprised I was anywhere near coherent. The pain and numbness passed after about ten minutes, but it will be quite a while before I do that again.
Something else I hope I don't have to go through again: Answering the phone when the creepy Office Whatever lady calls. She is annoyingly chipper. She keeps calling for our purchasing person, who pretty much doesn't answer his phone, and she won't leave a voicemail, preferring instead to keep calling back. Honestly, the full name of her company makes me curious if she's selling office supplies or if she's working for a temp agency. Anyway, so she called today and asked me how my "fun Friday" was going. Um, cold, thanks. And then she stepped into creepy territory by saying, oh, but it's perfect for cuddling! Um, not around here. *shudder* See, it would be one thing if it were someone I knew; another if it came from a guy. Otherwise? Just plain creepy. My coworkers agreed.
Lastly, I got a call from someone in the office: Is "taped" spelled with one P or two?
Me: One, otherwise it would be "tapped."
Caller: Oh...right.
See? I *do* get to put my mad English and spelling skills to work. It's the actual speaking skills I need to work on, but that's for another day.
