I'm done!
Shopping? Done.
Wrapping? Done.
That's it, that's all she wrote.
This is the nice thing about having so few people to buy for--just mom, dad, and grandma. And, this year, myself. My Walmart run on Friday night netted me items that were on my list but until I wrapped them, I wasn't entirely sure of what I had. I'm a visual person; I need to see what's actually there sometimes.
We've been keeping it somewhat simple for a few years now. We all have plenty and we're able to buy our own stuff, so it's hard to come up with ideas. They're each getting a gift card, and they're each getting beverages; I found so many interesting flavors of tea that I went overboard, and then realized, what the heck, Santa can give me tea for Christmas too. Then there were some smaller items that were more household gifts, and I ended up with three of them--one of which is meant for everybody but I'd written down for mom, but I'd already gotten her something and I didn't have an equivalent extra gift for my dad, so I'll just open that one instead. Besides, I want to use it myself, heh, but I'm happy to share with the household. And, it was cheap enough that I could easily go out and buy another one if necessary.
The bonus of wrapping everything yesterday is that...it's already done. Normally I wrap on Christmas Eve; now all I have to do is bring it downstairs to the tree area. Everything fit into my reusable Target bag, so transporting it will be super simple and take one trip. Also, we never put up a tree. Mom put out some decorations, including a festive gnome that is sitting on the table where we've been putting Papa's little tree, but that's it. We never dug the stuff up from the basement, though I did pull my Santa hat out of one of the containers. Mom's too crazy with all the grandma stuff, and I'm just plain tired all the time, so dad apparently said, screw it. He'd be the one to drag it all up and he just didn't. It's fine. Since covid, it's lost its luster.
