A few months ago, my mom's phone suffered from spontaneous botulism and sort of exploded. It burst apart at the seams. Naturally, she then had to get a new phone. This one must have been set up with similar sounds as my father's phone, because they started confusing whose phone was going off. Even now, several months later, I don't think she ever changed her incoming text tone because one phone will go off and they'll ask each other, was that yours?
Mom did change her ring tone, at least, and it's fairly obvious that it's her phone going off. She chose this semi-obnoxious song that sort of sounds like someone's whistling along to, like, house music. This is not music my mother listens to, which makes it all the more incongruous. And, with all the grandma stuff happening, and the realtor and my uncle regularly calling mom on her cell phone, it's going off a LOT. It's obnoxious, but it also makes me want to break into a goofy dance every time I hear it. Better is when it goes off and it's plugged in and charging in the living room and mom's upstairs doing whatever and she can't hear it. Dad probably can't hear it in the family room, since he listens to the TV louder than I'd like, but if I'm downstairs in the kitchen, I'll know it's going off.
Last week when I returned to work, there were people waiting for room renters and all of a sudden, there's that ring tone. OMG my mom's here?!? No, just someone else who doesn't want something more docile to come out of their phone. You know, some people put it on vibrate and don't let a ring tone happen at all, just saying.
phone,
mom,
