Unbelieva-Bull

One of the schools I taught at was in Deerfield. Probably the best-known place in Deerfield, especially for a sports nut, is the Berto Center. That's where the Bulls practice. I didn't think about that when I was teaching--for one, I didn't have time--but the following year I was reminded that, hey, I possibly worked near the Berto Center.

Fast forward to today. I pick up part of the Trib from a couple of days ago, and in one of its calendar sections there's something about a charity event going on at the Berto Center, 550 Lake-Cook Road, Deerfield.

Holy crap. I took Lake-Cook all the time on my way to Deerfield. However, since I went there once every two weeks, I didn't really get a chance to look around at what was there. That part of Lake-Cook is heavily industrial, so there's not much to look at to begin with. Besides, during the first few trips there, it was dark outside (being 6:30 in the morning), so I wouldn't have seen much regardless.

I pulled out my trusty 7-County atlas to see if I could figure out the address that way. No. So, online I went. Rand McNally.com gave me something weird, so I decided to see what Mapquest had to say.
Mapquest results If this is right, then I would never have driven past it. I would turn onto Pfingsten/Kates to avoid the dreaded Lake-Cook/Waukegan Roads intersection. (The school is a little ways north off of Waukegan.) But wait. There's a second Lake-Cook. Hmm. Now back to...
Rand McNally results Now, if this one is right, then I basically *did* drive past it. Holy crap indeed. I'm planning on going to the spring concerts at all the schools, so I'll have to remember to check this out when I go to Deerfield. Wow.

If you needed a reminder, it really is the little things that get me through the day.
