We had ice come down on Saturday. It wasn't an ice storm, and was quiet when it fell, but Sunday morning it was clear--pun not intended, heh--that the world was an ice rink. Numerous social media posts showed people either sliding down their driveways or slipping on sidewalks. Everything was shiny. We basically did not leave the house, save for dad venturing behind my car to fetch the paper. I watched him the whole time but he made it back safely.
Yesterday, I went out the garage to get closer to my car; we have no railings for our front porch, and it was clearly iced over. Ideally, we'd have gone out to clear it, but we were not up for that. It was sunny at least on Sunday, so some of it melted, but it was still below freezing the last couple days so there's still a ton of slippery stuff out there. I was just glad there wasn't much ice left on my car, so I didn't even have to clean it off. The ride to work showed off a shiny world; everything glistened. At work, because both buildings face north, it meant walking gingerly anywhere I went. Thankfully I didn't have to go between the buildings but once in and once out was enough.
It should get above freezing today, and should be sunny, so things should improve. Ice really is the worst precipitation, even if it's pretty.
