And now, in this week's version of How I Randomly Hurt Myself...
Recently, with my hectic work schedule, I'd been waking up with leg cramps. To help combat that, I've started drinking Gatorade, both to hydrate as well as replenish anything I might be losing. (Funny, how up until the summer I'd only been drinking water...for like several years...and now I'm flat-out buying beverages. And I voluntarily made iced tea several times this year. What is this madness?) This seemed to be helping, though a couple times recently I felt a twitch in my calf, and a couple nights ago I had a strong one in my thigh. That was really unpleasant.
I finished off a bottle last night and went to open a new one. Sure, let's try fruit punch. I used my left hand to take the cap off but it was tight. Right afterward, my hand felt weird. What the heck? I looked at it, and I noticed one of my veins, I guess, looked a little swollen, and there was what looked like a cut crossing over said vein at the base of my thumb, the fatty part right at the bottom middle of my palm. It was only across the surface, so the skin wasn't broken, but it was clearly marked. And it *hurt*. I was just about to do my dinner dishes and ended up having to do them one-handed, since I wasn't sure what was going on.
The good news is that it doesn't really hurt this morning, and I can use my hand, but yeah, I definitely did something weird, simply by opening a bottle. I have a bruise there and it's slightly raised. I'm glad it was last night, so that I have a couple days to get it to heal a little before band. I kind of need my hand there.
