A pink sort of day

I have six pairs of work pants. I washed them last weekend, and I worked my regular five workdays last week, so that I had one pair of pants left to wear before I went through them again. (I wear them about three times before washing them again.) That last pair of pants was my gray pair, and what goes good with gray? Pink. Time to wear my sleeveless top with the pink flowers all over it, paired with my long-sleeved pink shirt with the eyelets all over it.

Now, to accessorize. The mask was easy; my rectangular one with the ballet dancer in the big fluffy tutu matches this outfit nicely. I've recently gone through a few things and remembered pulling out a pair of pink beaded earrings I made years ago, so we'll add those. Last week or so, I'd gone into this auxiliary hair stuff holder and remembered I had this beaded hairband with little pink crystals on it; they're on clear wire so it looks fairy-inspired. And while digging through the holder for that, I came across this beaded bun holder I'd completely forgotten I had. Mom originally had bought it, part of her forgetting that she doesn't have long hair and can't use virtually any of the items she's picked up, and she passed it along to me. Alas, I inherited dad's thin hair, not mom's thick head (...of hair), and it wasn't enough to hold the combs in my hair. Except...perhaps now that it's fairly long for me, I'll be able to wear it. And I did! With less hair, the combs would slip out, but I have enough to make a decent-sized bun and it gave the main part of the holder enough to work with that it stayed in my hair all day. I was pretty impressed, actually. Plus, it's something different but easy to do my hair with and will add a bit of variety. There's a second, similar holder where the beads are black, not light brown, so that adds versatility. They're kind of pretty, too, as the beads are in this woven pattern. That part is in the middle with combs on either side. So, that was exciting.

...Given what's transpired over the past couple weeks, I'm perfectly okay that something so mundane was nearly the biggest excitement of the day. Of course, this afternoon a bolt of lightning hit close enough to work that the lights flickered, a light fixture started shaking back and forth, and across the back parking lot a truck's alarm sounded. I'd rather get excited about my outfit, thanks anyway. Oh, and I finally heard from Two-Chairs-Down; she said she basically slept through it all! I'm kind of impressed by that, though she is hard of hearing. To be a half-mile from where a tornado flattened a house, and not know it happened, is simultaneously amazing and scary, but I'm glad she's okay, and she appreciated me asking about her and her dog.
