Santa's watching!

If it's the Saturday after Thanksgiving, it's time to decorate for Christmas. Dad actually brought up most of the boxes last night, and when he was still face down on the couch at 8:30, 9 AM, I decided to start unpacking them while he sawed logs. I really didn't feel like shopping anyway, truthfully. He did wake up not too long later, but I was two hours into the unpacking when he finally brought up the tree from the basement. We put that together and unfortunately ended up with an extra branch. Uh-oh. We'd skipped one of the red-level branches accidentally and had a white-level (bottom) branch left over, but we were able to find where the missing branch went and correct the problem. And then we took a lunch break. Dad then had to put the lights and garland on the big tree before I could decorate it, so in the meantime I worked on Papa's tree. I'd already decided to put it in the second-story foyer. Lighting was going to be tricky but we ended up winding a strand of red up the bannister, then connecting that end to the two sets on the tree (white and green), and the other end of the red attached to an extension cord to plug into the wall. Papa's tree has translucent/stained glass ornaments plus most of the music-related ones. I think it looks cute and adds a bit of festivity to the second floor landing. Meanwhile, we'll go shopping tomorrow; I said to dad, not only am I not feeling it today, we don't really have room in the fridge for more food. This way we can eat some more leftovers and clear out some containers. He said, you know that means we'll likely see the one manager at the store--the one that likes you. (The guy is kind of annoying. However, he *always* remembers me when I pay, since I have to get manager approval for low check numbers, and he's like, you're fine! I know you! Goody.) He then started teasing me about it. Great. Uh, you know, Santa's watching! You're going to make his naughty list! Dad just laughed. Yes, well, I've given coal before; I can give it again.
