Time to invest in a kayak

It poured today. And not just once, but several times. It looked like a monsoon at one point. It's been so long since it last rained like this that I completely forgot the protocol, which is to check what the back parking lot looks like periodically. Sounds like an investment in a pair of rain boots (or two) might be a good idea.

This thought has in fact crossed my mind. Especially since my coworker's waders are about five sizes too big.

The coworker with the waders was thinking about getting thigh-highs. What he has will fit over a pair of shoes.

...We only half-joke about getting kayaks and canoes. There have been times it's been necessary.

I think during the great rain of April 2013, it might have happened. That was the first big rainstorm I experienced while working there. Up until then, I'd heard about the lake behind the building but never experienced it. The water was basically lapping the outside wall, that's how high it got. I took pictures and there were cars in the lower parking spots closest to the service drive that did have water higher than the bottoms of their doors. (The parking areas angle down toward the service drive. Some businesses have diagonal parking in front of them, while others, like ours, have stacked straight-in parking where one car parks behind another. That's how I was parked last week, behind my coworker's truck.) I just went and looked at said pictures; one sedan had water that reached past the bottom of its bumper. It was parked a few businesses down. I don't know what happened to it, but clearly its exhaust pipe was under water ( ... )
