I was just going to write about how horrifically boring today has been, and how I'm a wuss who didn't call anyone to see if there was a party this year, when the phone rang. It was Nick, host of the annual 4th of July party. I shall be going in about an hour.
Up until five minutes ago, the day was pretty blah. It has rained on and off for hours. While we do need the rain for this drought-sponsored summer, it is upsetting that Mother Nature had to pick the holiday in which to pour water onto everything. Luckily it hasn't been too bad, and the thunderstorms went to the north, so it's not as if we've had to deal with severe weather in addition to the raindrops. There's also the chance that the rain will end soon, though it just started again while I was on the phone. If you remember from last year, Nick lives within walking distance of my house. I'd much rather walk there. But the fact that I'm planning on wearing a white shirt tends to prevent that. Hmm.
It was nice to have the day off. My illustrious coworker P did not complain about working today, as far as I'm aware, so I didn't have to go in for several hours of holiday fun. I do have to open the next three days, as my boss is on vacation, so I can't stay out too late. This has been a surprisingly busy weekend, though. It's good. It shakes me up. Though, oddly, I have no recollection of Friday. I can't tell you why. I just don't.
I suppose I should start getting ready. In anticipation of going out in some form, I've already showered and did so hours ago. Now it's a matter of ironing my shorts and finding appropriate blankets. If the show goes on, the ground's going to be squishy. Ick.
