You know how I've been complaining about not getting a lunch at work? Not a problem today! The Jimmy John's fairy came to visit!
Apparently they are now so fast they know you want a sandwich before you even think about it.
This guy was going around the neighborhood offering free little sandwiches; he had them all in a basket. I was so stunned when he walked in and offered free food--and had a basket probably 2/3 full of them--that for a moment all I could do temporarily was stare. Oh, the sandwiches. Can I play Pokemon with them and catch them all?
It was lunchtime then, and at that time most people either were already out at lunch or had brought their own. When I asked the two other people around if they wanted anything, they said they were fine. The guy insisted on leaving some anyway. He had three different kinds, ham and cheese, turkey, and cheese and avocado as the vegetarian offering. I said he could leave one of each, but he left two each of the meat ones and one of the cheese. I then went back to my two coworkers and said, okay, did you change your minds? They did. Because, I mean, free food. And they were small sandwiches, too, maybe only a couple inches long. I ended up eating the cheese one--the first person I offered it to basically went, vegetarian, ew--and the last two sandwiches went to two of the guys in the back building. My fear had been that they'd end up in one of our fridges and be forgotten for days, which could be bad. Or, the other, gluttonous option, I could have eaten them all. But I was good, and I shared, so a fair amount of people got their sandwich on.
Except now we're wondering when the Lou Malnati's fairy will appear. It's not my favorite pizza, but it's still pizza, and when it's free, it's extra tasty.
