night as a tavern lady

Thanks, Target.

Party America had a pretty dismal selection - actually, no, I don't even know, because the location was run so poorly that I never actually tried anything on. I didn't see anything that wasn't glorified lingerie anyway. (Glorified? Uh... just plain skanky?)

Target, though - oh how I love thee. They had exactly three adult women's costumes left, this one on clearance, and it's great. The tag calls it a "Tavern Lady," but at a friend's birthday costume party Saturday, various other opinions were offered. I felt pretty.

I don't know if I'll be wearing it Halloween or not; quite likely I'll be down at the newspaper office helping them out. But there is another Halloween party I've been invited to...

The funny thing about the birthday party was, normally I don't enjoy large groups of people. I really don't. But I got to take pictures with Snow White, otherwise known as a girl I randomly know from Latin class, and one friend was dressed as a giant Penguin, and we played Apples to Apples. It was a very good night indeed.

So, I think this newspaper business is really in the end all about teaching me the value of a day. I have one day to interview two people, transcribe the recording, write, and help edit an article about it. This time it's about the election process, which I am sadly unknowledgeable in. I've already learned some things.

But. Never again will I freak out when I "only" have 2 or 3 days to write something. I just managed to contact and interview (and transcribe) a dude with a really long, scary job title. I don't know if most people would be nervous interviewing him, but I was. For my second source, he even got a coworker of his to call me back, which I've also completed and transcribed - all before lunch. (Early morning - and no class before noon - is your frieeend.) I am so totally getting paid for this.

Now, to march on...

friends, the job, frustration
