Mini Rant
I've heard nothing but debate about gay marriage for two weeks now. Regardless of what I personally believe, I will defend anyone's right to their own opinion. Unfortunately "people for families" have a fatal flaw in their argument that makes it impossible for me to listen to them speak without rolling my eyes. If they truly believed that marriage is a covenant with god, and that man's law has no place in a religious ceremony, then they should have been bitching about the degradation of marriage a long time ago. They should have been all up in arms about civil ceremonies at the courthouse. They should have been loosing their shit about Judges performing the sacrament instead of the clergy. If that were really their problem with gay marriage, then they should have been screaming about the threat of atheists to thier marriages.
But they weren't. So I think it is time for some people to come to terms with their real beef. They don't like homosexuals, and want to keep them from having something that the gay community wants very badly. Makes this whole argument about as mature as 5 year olds playing keep away on the play ground.
