it's a sad day for ISRAELI potheads. most jewish pot heads don't even live in israel.

good luck with your football team thing. i can definitely see your point and it is nice to see you all up in arms about something, BUT (there's always a but...)

i would also say that something is only a legitimate solution to an actual problem if its a possible one. most college students are kind of dumb, because most people are dumb, be they college educated or no. and people love sports. i don't know why they do, but they do. college students love their football teams, and don't give two shits whether they're making money or not. i'd like to abolish football for the entire country, it eats up a lot of money that could be going to better things. but the stadiums full of people make it clear: americans love football.
so while yeah, getting rid of a very expensive and essensially worthless program may help to drive tuition costs down, and is, from that standpoint, a very good idea, if you really want to help fellow students, maybe try a plan that doesnt enrage the vast majority of them?

does the fact that you can't do it make it a bad idea, not really. however, if you are going to try to present it as an actual possible solution for a possible problem, the fact that it isn't really possible at all (as you admitted) does weaken you're argument.

i'd like to end this grossly long comment on a positive note. if you DO manage to get rid of the football team, i'll not only be very impressed with you for like, a whole week straight, i'll also give you a present. like i dunno, a pony, or a blowjob. whichevers cheaper. FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT KYLE.

So?

Yes, but the NFL actually makes money. Talking about how stupid consumers are is one thing, investing into a failing enterprise is something entirely different.

if you really want to help fellow students, maybe try a plan that doesnt enrage the vast majority of them?

Whether or not they're enraged is irrelevent. It would improve their college lifestyle dramatically by lowering the cost of everything the university throws their way since they no longer need to make up for lost revenue on a giant fiscal leech.

The possible solution is abolishment, or, at the very least, cutting the budget to match that of the other sports in the athletic department. Actual solution for an actual problem: check.

I didn't say that it wasn't really possible, I said that it wasn't actually going to happen. Why? Because it's so vastly improbable (not necessarily impossible) for reasons you've already attested to: 1) people are stupid, whether they're college educated or not and 2) Americans love football. Other people being stupid and refusing to accept rational arguments doesn't weaken the merit of that argument, unless a whole bunch of stupid people being really loud does equate in strength to a rational argument, in which case maybe the gays shouldn't be allowed to marry.
