Power in Photos

I was looking at photos on the newyorktimes.com and a gallery caught my eye. The title was Salvador and I had recently done a project on El Salvador. While these picture are from Brazil, I decide to look through the gallery.
A Weekend in Salvador, Brazil

I really enjoy this photo.  I love the black shadows contrasting with the ocean and the lamp.  The majority of the photo is cool color (with the blue water and the light blue sky), which makes the warm colors of the orange lamp and the beer really stands out.  It also helps balance the colors, because a little bit of warm color can balance out a lot amount of cool colors.  The lifting of the glass bring movement into the photo and you can imagine the two men relaxing in this tropic area.  It is just beautiful.  I would really like to be there.

I think this photo is also amazing.  The focal point is that table on the right.  And everything in the picture points to it.  The spot of sun right above them (which dots always attract the eye) to the way all the plants seem to be bending toward them.

These photos are well taken. :)
