Check out the live web cam of a finch nest. As of this posting, mom is in the nest. Earlier it was just chicks waving their afro-styled heads around, but since then both parents have showed up and it's really cool to watch them.

I just added uw_photo to my reading list, for the amazing underwater photography that gets posted there. Most of the text is in Russian, but that's ok, I'm there for the photos. Some of these pictures are just stealing my breath, they are so vivid, composed, and mesmerizing. ::sigh::
...like this recent one of a clown anemonefish. Amazing!

There is some bird outside our house that spends some time every day screeching. Just screeching and screeching! It is so annoying. What kind of a bird just screeches like that? No kind of bird that belongs in a residential neighborhood, that's what.

I forgot how great it is to get up in the morning and see the tiny little black-capped chickadees flitting around busily in the trees outside my window, making their tiny cheepy cries and seeming to defy gravity while they check every inch of the branches for yummies. ^_^

So I'm staying up at my grandmother's for a few nights. She fell and hurt her knee and the hospital said she should have someone around all the time for a few days just in case. My aunts are taking care of it during the day while I'm at work. It's not so great to sleep up there. Starting at about 7 every morning the racket begins, grandma wandering ( Read more... )
