Get critical!

I need feedback by noon-ish tomorrow. I should mention this is for the Wednesday edition of The Daily Utah Chronicle, the University of Utah's student rag. They'll be doing a special issue devoted entirely to gay rights.

it implies to me that closted queers abuse kids.

i kind of agree with this statement. although i do think that family/societal/religious/whatever pressure of homosexuals to remain in the closet may be a factor in some child molestation cases.

and i think that hate crime legislation is worth mentioning, although i'm not exactly sure where and how you would wanna put it in.

I agree. Maybe I'm in the dark (like the breeder I am and all) but I don't hear the "fags will touch my kids" argument as much as "fags will make more fags if they have kids". With the gay-marriage/adoption debate being pretty heated right now, that's where I'd focus.

Agreed. I don't recall anyone saying to me that they thought homosexuals were child molesters. The quote is bringing up an issue that, perhaps, many people have forgotten. No need to bring it back into the public consciousness.

The argument I hear most often is what Amanda said: "If kids grow up in homosexual households they will be homosexual." or "If my kid goes to school with a homosexual kid in kindergarten they will grow up thinking it is ok to be homosexual."

Good luck Evan. April 21st.

"Most importantly in our modern political discourse, it’s time to understand that gay and lesbian families pose no threat to the purported “sanctity” of marriage. Marriage, as a sacred institution, was destroyed long ago by rampant infidelity, spousal abuse, and astoundingly high divorce rates."
I have not seen this truth more clearly and masterfully worded. Nice work.

I have to agree about eliminating the third paragraph. Maybe you could discuss why civil unions are not the same as marriages.
