I used to write wee single paragraph reviews of pretty much everything I read/watched/played but I've got out of the habit - but a recent RPG purchase feels like it deserved a write-up.  Interested if you think it's worth me getting back into the habit of this or shorter reviews.

Ready Player One: This novel is pretty much custom made for nerds of about my age or older. Once & Future King: This is a collection of five separate books, though obtaining more than just The Sword In The Stone on it's own these days is a challenge. (I bought a solo copy at the same time as this, thought I was in error and got rid of it... only to discover the collection version and solo version are slightly different. D'oh!) Conan The Cimmerian: I finally read one of the sixties Conan collections, which mix pure Howard with edited/expanded works and whole new pastiches by L. Sprague de Camp and Lin Carter. This week I only got six comics of the new 52, but I think they were all quite strong. Mostly worked better as #1s than last week, which is the biggie.

I also finally noticed the mystery robed woman who, Where's Wally style, is in ever New 52. She makes a particularly out-of-place appearance in Batman & Robin which I clocked, but Ailsa was the one ( Read more... )

I picked up eight comics this week, all #1s of DC's New 52. I will include individual comments shortly, but one general comment would be how poor many of them are as #1s.
