It's been a busy dozen days or so. A was over for a full week. I collected her from Stansted the first Wednesday and took her back there on the second. A lot has been happening, most of it reasonably constructive.
There was no Morse practice on the first Thursday morning, but yesterday's happened as scheduled, and I only got one word wrong in the whole thing, which is probably the best I've yet managed, though that might have had something to do with my having recently read the article from which the exercise text was taken. The only other radio contact I've had was a brief one before the usual Sunday morning Net (which I didn't stay around on-air to join this week). I did get to a couple of informal social radio club meetings, one on Monday evening, and the other on Tuesday.
On Friday we went over to Gravesend for an evening of gaming that mostly involved Pokémon. It was fun.
Sunday was quite a busy day. I got up early in order to transport an instructor and his stuff to the radio club venue for a day of Advanced training. I then headed home promptly. A little later we headed off to Epping for this month's NMC rehearsal, and got there a bit later than planned, but in time for lunch before rehearsal. The rehearsal went pretty well. The drive home involved a couple of detours, and had one rather slow section, so there wasn't all that much daylight left by the time we got home.
Wednesday's drive to Stansted coincided with a major closure of the M25 near the M11 junction, so we had to take a route involving the A12 and some smaller roads, but we got there in good time. I reversed the route, more or less, to get home, but stopped at IKEA in Lakeside on the way. It was the first time I'd visited the place, and I think I'd be happy never to have to visit it again. The M25 was having a bad day, and I got caught up in heavy traffic that was trying to avoid a jam on the section past Clacketts Lane when I took my usual turn off home.
On Wednesday evening I went to the local astronomical society meeting. Sadly, the scheduled speaker didn't turn up. I wonder whether he too got caught in M25 trouble. The society is lucky enough to have a few members who can step in under such circumstances, and we were treated to an interesting talk on spectroscopy instead.
Quite a bit of Thursday was spent sorting out travel arrangements. In the evening Alice came round, and we swapped a few Pokémon, won a raid, took over a gym, talked about all sorts of things, and ate salmon, ice cream, and chocolate...
This morning I've spent quite a while dealing with emails from lawyers, and talking to surveyors, and not nearly enough time doing constructive things, though one complicated antenna has been packed, and a few more boxes are now full of books.
