Come Rain, Come Shine...
We went back to the doctor's on Tuesday afternoon, and my mother was sent home with a slightly extended course of medication and instructions to return the following Tuesday. Since then it's been a case of trying to keep her as quiet as possible...
On Wednesday morning we went next door to the old house to take photos, as it needs to be re-let sometime soon. I went out to lunch with a friend, leaving my mother to have a quiet lunch at home.
On Thursday morning I went to collect Bertie the Bouncing Labrador from the vet's. There's quite a bill to pay, so I'll be heading that way again today. We had a quiet lunch at home, and I went shopping shortly after lunch. Then, shortly after 4pm I headed out for tea with an old friend. The traffic was quite sluggish, and what might have been a ten minute drive (at most) ended up taking nearly half an hour. But it was a good tea, and we spent a lot more time chatting than we might have done because one of the not infrequent thundery downpours started shortly after I arrived.
Unfortunately, when I got back to the car, I discovered that the sunroof has most definitely developed serious shower-unit ambitions. I got rather damp on the drive home. It won't be sensible to take that car anywhere while the weather's this unpredictable until the seal has been repaired.
Overnight, with more rain falling, something in the house's alarm system was tripped, so we had a bit of a disturbed night.
This morning the sun is shining.
