One casualty of the heavy rain early on Tuesday morning was the main internet connection here. I've been living off tethered mobile phone connectivity since then, and it's not quite as reliable as one might like. I have also re-connected my mother's iPad via its mobile connection, so she's getting emails, but the new computer has been offline since Tuesday morning.
Tuesday turned out quieter than expected, partly because of problems caused by the heavy rain. Elsewhere, roads were either damaged or temporarily obstructed by flood water, and one person who was to have visited had t stay at home to sort out a fallen tree. We did get visitors at tea time, but otherwise the day was quiet.
Yesterday was a rather busier day. My mother decided to organise some fairly major garden re-arrangement in the morning. Then a group from the museum came to the garden for a bird walk (and saw, they think, over sixty different species in a coupe of hours). Meanwhile, a workman was trying to clear the gutters, and I went shopping. Then we had friends round to lunch, and my cousin round for tea. Then I had to take Bertie the Bouncing Labrador back to the vet. They decided he needed minor surgery on his damaged claw, so he's stayed the night there. We may pick him up this evening.
This morning my mother's been supervising more garden re-arrangement. Apparently yesterday's got a little out of control. It's now started raining fairly heavily again, so that's on hold. We're half-expecting a site visit from the internet provider, as it's possible the equipment at this end has failed.
On the radio I've not had much luck. The bands have not been wonderful. I've been hearing a bit of Morse but very little voice, and my attempts to make Morse contacts yesterday did not work out. Today there's rain and thunder about so I may not get as far as the radio.
