On Saturday morning I took my mother over to the hospital for a post-surgery check. The doctor seemed happy enough to sign her off. We came home via a Japanese/Korean restaurant. Having been there before, I played safe and had an excellent teriyaki chicken. My mother went for sushi and sashimi, and ended up with more wasabi than she'd bargained for. Her still slightly tender gut wasn't entirely happy with this.
On the way home we collected Bertie the Bouncing Labrador from the vet. He's supposed to be on a "keep quiet and clean" regime. Theoretically.
On Sunday, after the morning's local radio club Net and a bit of sitting around watching the garden, we went out to a local(-ish) curry place for a good lunch. After it we came home for a quiet afternoon and evening. I spent a little while listening on the radio, but the bands were not in great shape, and where there was activity it was mostly contest traffic from kilowatt big guns.
On Monday we had a fairly quiet morning. We went to the shops a little late, and came back for a late lunch. I spent half the afternoon asleep. At about 5pm we took the dog back to the vet for another antibiotic shot and a check. He came back with a "cone of shame" to wear. If nothing else, it makes him a little less enthusiastic about bouncing everywhere. While we were at the vet's, there was a heavy downpour. It was all over before we got half-way home, but it must have dumped half an inch in that time.
I spent most of the evening listening on the radio. Bands above 17 metres were pretty much silent, but the 17 and 20 metre bands were full of activity. Unfortunately it mostly seemed to be kilowatt big guns again, though, so the propagation probably wasn't actually as wonderful as the apparent level of activity initially suggested.
Overnight there was a lot more rain. A neighbour reports about three and a half inches of it. The dam is over-flowing, and the stream, which is dry most of the year, is flowing fast and wide. I'll have to go to check for fence damage at some point, as when it flows this fast it often washes debris into the wires, and sometimes they don't cope...
