A Week Of...

Where was I? It's been one of those weeks, I guess... Some ups, some downs, and more than the usual run of "Meh."...

The family came back from their Lake Baringo safari last Monday, and we organised an early supper involving roast chicken, roast potatoes, and quite a bit else, with strawberries and ice cream for afters. Then, in the evening, my brother's children were put on their flight back to UK.

On Tuesday my brother had a dental appointment, and my sister, sister-in-law and I went up to Limuru for a memorial service for an old family friend who'd died back in November. It was a good gathering, and we met plenty of folk we'd not seen in quite a while. The drive home after it was a little long, mainly thanks to one particularly well-snarled-up junction.

On Wednesday I caught up a little with my brother before he headed back to the Middle Of Nowhere. The rest of the day was fairly quiet.

On Thursday we took my mother back to the doctor for a check-up, and he seemed fairly pleased with her progress. We stayed over that side of town for lunch, and came home just before the evening rush.

On Friday I went round to a friend's for morning coffee. Then in the afternoon we all went round to another friend's for tea.

On Saturday we had about a dozen (plus...) friends round for a curry lunch in the garden. It was a good gathering, and the last guests headed home at about sunset.

Today I went out in the morning to have a look at the Karen Blixen Museum, and to play a little Ingress by the by. My brother-in-law and his children went off with a friend to do some paint-balling and go-karting. they came back quite late and rather sore for various reasons, and my brother-in-law has cancelled a game of golf he had planned for tomorrow.

This evening, following some slight question about a lack of improvement in my mother's health, I decided to delay my return flight by a week. I'd rather be here and not be needed than find myself back in the UK and unable to help, and the go/stay decision needed to be taken more than 24 hours before my booked departure. We'll see how things are in the morning...
