“Not too pathetic to bugger you senseless, though.”
“True. Still, it’s a good thing I was there to save you from Voldemort’s second killing curse, don’t you think?”
“Definitely. But then, I rescued you from your life of prostitution, so we’re even.”
“I suppose so. The fans should be happy, anyway.”
“I don’t know, I think they’d be happier if we fucked, again.”
“I think I can handle that.”

Sirius kissed Remus like it was all he had in life, which was true, really. Each kiss reminded him that things could be better than his parents had said, that hope truly was worth the inevitable pain. Every touch meant there was joy, every look proved the existence of peace. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for his Moony, and he knew Remus felt the same way, knew because Remus told him. Not a morning came that didn’t feel like a fresh start, with Remus curled around him.
Until there came the child, the secret, the betrayal, and the end.

Hermione sat curled up next to her husband, knees pulled to her chin and hands covering her eyes. She didn’t think she could take much more. The screams cut through her senses, unbalanced her reality. It was almost as if each new horror was directly targeted towards her, meant to pull her apart both mentally and emotionally.
“Please, make it stop! I can’t take anymore!”
An arm slipped around her trembling shoulders, causing her to shriek in terror.
“Hermione,” Percy said gently, “you can uncover your eyes, now.”
She lowered her hands hesitantly. “We’re never watching a scary movie again.”
