Draco had enough of his father’s fortune to get himself set up moderately well. There was even enough for him to see his mother, if he felt like it.
Not that he did. Whenever he thought of her, guilt twisted his insides, but he usually brushed it off with vague anger. It it hadn’t been for her, he never would have gotten mixed up with the Dark Lord and lost it all.
And never visiting Azkaban meant he never again saw his father’s face, twisted with shock , as he drew his wand and turned it on his friends and family.

After Harry left, Albus dropped into his chair and sighed. The portraits were occasionally calling down questions, but he had no desire to speak with them. He got up and walked towards the back of his office.
The door opened into a room crowded with oddities he’d picked up from every corner of the globe. Ignoring them, he wandered over to the bed and reached under the pillow.
Underneath was a muggle photograph of a stately, dark haired woman, sitting with her two sons near a plain brick house. Albus asked “Well, mother? Did I do right by the boy?”
