Her, Lupin hears him say. Prey. Hunt now.
Remus ignores this to the best of his ability. It scares him.
Or is it that she scares me? he thinks one day. They’re alone, cleaning the attic that used to be Sirius’.
He grabs her arm. “So you don’t trip,” he explains when she looks up suddenly. Her pink eyebrow’s cocked.
Won’t hurt, he decides.
But it does.
Weeks later, she’s at his doorstep, all mousy hair and large, wet eyes. She walks in hopeful little circles, like a wounded animal.
