Title: Settling
Characters/Pairings: Tonks/Remus
WC: 100
House: Gryffindor
A/N: As you will see from the rest of my drabbles, I generally write Sirius/Remus. However, the last time I posted a S/R drabble, I had several people tell me they felt sorry for Tonks, which I understood. Anyway, this one is sort of an explanation of how I see the Remus/Tonks relationship, as well as a way of examining the way they use each other to block their own pain. And...yes. Thats all!
They sit watching the fire, contemplating each other in the growing darkness.
Tonks knows she will never be exactly what Remus wants-the past is over, but some part of Sirius remains, trailing behind him with dogged loyalty. Still, she loves him, and he is enough, so she stays.
Remus knows he will never be exactly what Tonks wants-she is whole and he is broken, shattered with the pain of past and present. Still, he loves her, and she is enough, so he stays.
They don’t attempt to explain their relationship. It is worth everything, and nothing at all.
Title: Reality
Characters/Pairings: James, Sirius/Remus
WC: 100
House: Gryffindor
Sirius spent years watching Remus wake, even before they were together. James used to tease him about it mercilessly, the way he watched and waited for the pained groans and telltale twitches. “You bloody ponce,” his friend would murmur fondly, and Sirius would punch him, hurt and afraid of what his words might mean.
It wasn’t until sixth year that Sirius faced the truth-he did not know how James and Peter woke up, did not know their every move as they slipped from dream to reality. He cursed, realizing. It was only Remus. It was only Remus all along.
Title: Wait

“Bloody hell, Moony,” Sirius hissed from between his teeth, cradling the smaller boy in his arms. “How long have you been out here?”
Remus smiled and bit his lip, looking ashamed and nervous and relieved all at once. “Hours,” he admitted, only choking slightly on the word.
Wiping at the tearstains on his friend’s cheeks, Sirius shook his head, his eyes surprisingly bright. “Impatient git,” he whispered, leaning close, “you shouldn’t have run off like that. Would have saved us a lot of pain.”
“Why is that?” Remus mumbled, barely daring to hope.
“Because, you idiot, I love you too.”
Title: Intensity
Characters/Pairings: Sirius/Remus, mentions MWPP
WC: 100
House: Gryffindor
A/N: The first one is the 100 word one, to be counted. The second is the uncut original, which I think turned out better.
The first time Remus changed, he was amazed by the intensity of it. The pain was exquisite, blocking out everything but the need to create more pain, to escalate the sensation into sweet unconsciousness.
After his friends, he knew a different kind of intensity. He tasted the power of loyalty and pack in the light of the full moon. It was as consuming as the pain, frightening him with sheer power.
When Sirius kissed him, that night under the stars, Remus swore it was the most intense rush he’d ever felt. Searching his face, Sirius did not take this lightly.
aaaand the longer one:
The first time Remus changed, he was amazed by the intensity of it. The pain was exquisite, blocking out everything but the need to create more pain, to escalate the sensation into sweet unconsciousness. As he got older, Remus grew to anticipate the sheer power of his instincts, destroying himself once a month with startling ease.
After his friends, he knew a different kind of intensity. He tasted the power of loyalty and pack in the light of the full moon. It was as exquisite and consuming as the pain, frightening him with his sheer power.
When Sirius kissed him, that night under the stars, Remus swore it was the most intense rush he’d ever felt. Looking into his eyes, Sirius did not take this lightly.
