"They musn't know anything. Your life and young Malfoy's life would be in danger."

"Someone else. There must be another-"

"There is no other!" Dumbledore shouted. "We do not have a choice in this matter!"

Severus Snape closed his mouth grimly. "You once told me that we always had a choice."

Dumbledore put a hand on Snape's shoulder and sighed. "Things...have changed."
