Title: Owl Post #1
House: Gryffindor
Word Count: 100
Characters/Pairings: Petunia
Author's Notes: For the "refusal" challenge.
Petunia glowered at the owl on the windowsill and roughly snatched the ornate envelope from its beak. It hooted testily, then took to the sky with a flourish.
She knew without opening it that this was the family's invitation to Lily's wedding. The thought of it turned her stomach. Who knew what ghastly deeds might happen at a magical celebration? But of course, no matter how much she protested, her parents would force her to attend.
Were it up to her, Petunia thought, she would send her refusal immediately. And she certainly wouldn't use some mangy bird to do it.
Title: Owl Post #2
House: Gryffindor
Word Count: 100
Characters/Pairings: Hermione
Hermione's eyes darted back and forth between the two documents. She let out a heavy, frustrated sigh.
Really, it was funny that she found herself in this position. She'd worked hard for years to get into one of England's best schools, but their letter of acceptance seemed so much less enticing when compared to the one that had arrived in the beak of a snowy owl, promising a world beyond anything she had ever imagined. Tracing Dumbledore's sprawling script with her fingers now, she found herself smiling.
First, the letter of refusal. Then, one of the opposite sort to Hogwarts.
Title: Owl Post #3
House: Gryffindor
Word Count: 100
Characters/Pairings: Remus
His first thought was refuse. He couldn't possibly accept.
Dumbledore had spent enough time keeping his secret safe while he'd been a student. Parents would react irrationally if they discovered that their children were being taught by a werewolf.
But he did need the money. And he'd learned long ago that the headmaster had an uncanny way of knowing which risks were worth taking. It seemed like foolish pride to turn down an offer to teach in the place that he loved above all.
And there would also be Harry.
Remus took a deep breath and reached for his quill.
