Oh wow, it's been a long time! I've had a pretty stressful week, what with trying to finish Pears. I was working on another song for the Cancer fund-raiser, but I had to give up on that. It's pretty obvious that I'm incapable of working on more than one song at a time. It's like I can't focus on something new until I've finished the current project. Anyway, Pears is pretty much finished now, and it's Don't Eat Sky's first new song since we finished Shoes at the end of 2007! We had a little help with the vocals, from Heather Kelley of
Kokoromi, whose other vocal work can be heard
here. Because it's for a fund-raiser, I can't really post it here, but you can always
donate $10 and get a whole album!
Aside from that, I had a nice time visiting my parents in Coventry at the weekend. We ate at Dogma (The bar where one of the waitresses made fun of me last time I was there) and a nice restaurant that served Italian and Lebanese food. They gave me a lovely Easter egg from Thornton's, too, which had big chunks of fudge in it! I seemed to spend a lot of time completing crosswords and other word puzzles, and saw Kim and Heather for pretty much the first time since 2004.
On Monday when I got back from Coventry, I went out for a meal and drinks with Dave and his girlfriend, and her sister. It was a cool night, and the first time I had a meal in Giraffe that I enjoyed.
Finally, work is still going well! We have a new QA guy starting tomorrow, which will be interesting. We're having a team lunch!
