Oh!

I've kind of been neglecting my journal as of late. I suppose I've got a pretty good excuse, but more on that later.

My new job is fine. It's kind of nice to go back to the kind of office work where I have lots of different tasks. Since I started temping here in Guildford, every job has required me to pretty much mono-task; At Constellation I was entering data pretty much constantly, at AQA I was checking exam papers constantly until I got moved to data entry, which I then did constantly, and at Allianz it was pretty much always filing, with occasional post-opening and photocopying. Always dull, though. Anyway, I now work for a company that deals with heating repairs. The people I work with are a pretty animated bunch, but that just intimidates me more, and in the 3 days I've been there, I think I've successfully come across as the least interesting person ever. Oh, and I've been renamed to Kenny, as they say I look more like a Ken than a Dave. This is worrying:

Famous Daves:
David Bowie. David Whittaker. King David.

Famous Kens:
Ken Barlow. Ken Dodd. Ken Livingstone.

This does not bode well. Although, I'll admit I ran out of cool Davids after Bowie. I could have said David Beckham, or David Schwimmer, or Crag David, but that would have defeated the point of my gag. That said, this long-winded explanation has defeated it pretty much as effectively.

So, anyway, my excuse for not updating much is that I bought Shadow of the Colossus on Friday, and it's massively addictive. I'm enjoying it every bit as much as I hoped I would. Expect a review when I've completed it.

Speaking of games, actually, I bought two second-hand games for £5 yesterday, Mad Maestro and Detonator. Mad Maestro's an interesting concept that doesn't quite work, as at its most simple it merely involves pressing a single button in time for about 3 minutes. And it hurts. I imagine it'll get more interesting as it gets harder, and I get better, though. Detonator is a puzzle game that sees you blowing up buildings, and isn't really very good. My choice of second game didn't really extend much further than FIFA, though. Perhaps I should have taken a chance on XIII..

job, games, colossus
