Well, since both
pghwob and
lilostitch have expressed their concern that I haven't been updating my LJ much lately, I thought I'd sit down and write something for a change.
Life has pretty much been work lately. The POS project that I've been working on got delayed -- we were supposed to go live on September 20th, but pushed the date back to October 10th. Now the six day weeks are over with, which is good for my sanity, but not so good for my paycheck. Ah well. I knew the overtime wasn't going to last forever.
In recent news, Rosh Hashana is upon us. I spent Friday night and Saturday day in Synagogue, and by "Synagogue" I mean one of the classrooms at the local UU church. The congregation that my friend Adam introduced me to last year has moved from the Friends Meeting House to the UU church. It's a little weird to be going to services in a church, but hey -- unlike basically everyone else, their services are free, and they're liberal enough that the sermons tend to talk about things like politics and tolerance.
Last night was the big Rosh Hashana dinner at my parents' house. This year it was not just me and my parents, but Gayle, Lynne, my Great Aunts and Uncle, and one of my mothers' cousins as well. True to form, my mother managed to accidentally poison me with "oh, I'm sure it's vegan" food (um, nope, not vegan), and the night ended with Gayle in tears and Lynne complaining about my Dad. I just stood out in the middle of the street and smoked.
And speaking of smoking, I had set October 1st in my brain (and on my quitmeter) as my target date for quitting smoking. Unfortunately, I had set that date thinking that the POS project would be done by then, and, as I stated above, that's no longer the case. Now I'm wondering whether it's wise to try to quit again while I'm in the midst of this farschtinkeneh project. I still haven't decided.
