A while ago I submitted a story to a brand-spanking new horror mag (so new there has so far been only 1 issue published O_O), and today I received a favorable response from the editor. Definitely a surprise, since of course the likelihood of rejection is always so high...and this is a print magazine that pays.
I'm kind of excited. My guess is that at least to a certain extent, the magazine is so new not a lot of people know it exists, and they haven't received a huge number of submissions. But I'm not complaining. I haven't been paid for a story for about...6 years? And this is a relatively larger amount, though of course *real* writers would probably turn their noses up at it as paltry... ;) Whatever. I'm pleased. And surprised. Definitely surprised.
This'll make 5 credits. I guess now I have to go for 6.
