My poor dog. He looks like a cancer patient. I always feel bad thinking that, but it's true. If I can't say it, who can. It's not cancer, it's his thyroid. We found this out since his hair did not grow back after he was clipped in the summer. When we first got Tres (Easter weekend last year), we took him in to our regular vet for a check up. They weighed him, and he was 78 pounds. In August, when we located his original vet and took him in for his allergy issues, they weighed him, and he was 81 pounds. I called Tres' vet today to try to find out when (at what time of year) his previous owners started medicating him for his allergies. The vet tech said that they didn't - they just brought him in every August when they got bad. It has now been almost 24 hours since Tres went outside to pee. I walked them yesterday (like every day), getting home around 2:15PM, left for work just before 3, at which time he refused to go out. Normally he does go out quite soon after going walking, because he drinks a lot when he gets home.

Tres got in a fight at the dog walk the other day. Another male, about his size. First it came bounding at us to say hello (very welcome), then it bounded over to him and (I think) tried to get him to play. He doesn't dig that. He's big on personal space. The other dog was in his bubble.

The other day we gave the dogs rawhide treats (like usual) and after eating his, Tres began to cough a little and try to clear his throat. Thinking he was going to ralph, I took him outside. He wandered around and ate some grass, and came back in when I called him. He was no longer coughing so I figured he was good to go.
